About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong turbopump engineer to join our propulsion team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and optimization of high-speed turbopump systems used in liquid rocket engines. This role requires deep understanding of fluid dynamics, rotating machinery, cryogenic systems, and rocket propulsion fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Development

Design centrifugal and axial turbopumps for LOX, LH2, RP-1, or other propellants

Perform hydraulic design including impeller, diffuser, inducer, and volute design

Develop rotor dynamics models for high-speed rotating assemblies

Optimize pump efficiency, cavitation margin, and pressure rise

2. Analysis & Simulation

Conduct CFD analysis for flow behavior and cavitation prediction

Perform FEA for structural integrity under high pressure and cryogenic conditions

Conduct rotor dynamic analysis including critical speed, vibration, and stability

Thermal analysis for cryogenic and high-temperature operation

3. Testing & Validation

Plan and execute turbopump performance testing

Develop test rigs and instrumentation setup

Analyze test data for head, flow rate, efficiency, NPSH, and vibration

Troubleshoot failures and recommend corrective actions

4. Integration & System Engineering

Work closely with combustion chamber and engine teams for system integration

Support engine hot-fire tests

Ensure compatibility with feed system and propellant management systems

Maintain compliance with aerospace safety and quality standards

5. Documentation & Compliance

Prepare design reports, technical documentation, and review presentations

Experience with CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, CFX, Star-CCM+)

Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran)

Knowledge of rotor dynamics and high-speed rotating machinery

Understanding of cryogenic propellant handling

Preferred Skills

Experience in liquid rocket engine turbopumps

Knowledge of cavitation suppression techniques

Familiarity with materials used in cryogenic and high-stress environments

Experience in rocket engine hot-fire testing

Understanding of aerospace quality standards
