Job Summary
The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing transportation operations within the logistics and supply chain network. This role involves managing fleet operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving delivery efficiency, controlling transportation costs, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and safe movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transportation Operations Management
- Plan, manage, and optimize daily transportation operations.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods across all distribution channels.
- Develop transportation strategies to improve service levels and reduce transit time.
2. Fleet Management
- Manage company-owned and third-party fleets.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, fuel consumption, and utilization.
- Ensure fleet availability and operational efficiency.
3. Route Planning & Optimization
- Design and implement efficient route planning strategies.
- Use transportation management systems (TMS) and analytics to improve route efficiency.
- Monitor delivery performance and reduce delays.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Implement driver safety programs and conduct regular audits.
- Manage documentation related to permits, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with transport vendors, carriers, and logistics partners.
- Negotiate transportation contracts and service agreements.
- Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and customer service teams.
6. Cost Control & Budget Management
- Monitor transportation budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Optimize freight costs while maintaining service quality.
- Analyze transportation KPIs and financial performance.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise transport coordinators, dispatch teams, and drivers.
- Conduct training programs to improve operational efficiency.
- Drive performance management and employee engagement.
8. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track key transportation KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per shipment, fleet utilization, and damage rates.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards for senior management.
- Identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering.
- MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain or Logistics preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
- Proven experience managing fleet operations and transportation networks.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP, and logistics
