About this team:

This role is on a Digital Commerce & Transactions team in the lululemon technology organization. lululemon Engineering is dedicated to building secure, reliable, and performant products for our guests and partners. As Technology Manager, you will work as part of a global team supported by our business, engineering and architecture partners to help us collaboratively develop and deliver industry leading technology solutions that drive lululemons business goals.


A day in the life:

  • Lead and grow a team of skilled engineers, architects, and analysts through empathy and people-centric approach.
  • Set the team's delivery roadmap and technical goals, working closely with technology leaders in North America and other partner teams.
  • Ensure team's deliverables meet the security, quality and engineering maturity standards set by enterprise architecture and engineering.
  • Ensure the right skills are being used to solve the right problems by supporting the team with coaching, skills development, and career path leadership
  • Being a role model and lead awareness and training for your team in our IDEA program - Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action.
  • Define and drive the engineering vision for international eCommerce platforms, integrations.
  • Lead the evolution to a MACH-based, AI-enabled composable architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless).


Architect and operationalize next-generation digital commerce platforms leveraging:

  • Cloud-native services.
  • Event-driven systems (Kafka, streaming).
  • Intelligent automation across the commerce funnel.
  • Lead engineering for high-traffic, multi-country, multi-language international websites, ensuring performance, scalability, localization, and compliance.
  • Modernize legacy integrations into API-first, loosely coupled services, enabling faster feature rollout and market expansion.
  • Champion DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and ML Ops practices to accelerate deployment cycles and reduce release risk.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, PMO, Product, and Business teams to implement future-ready digital commerce solutions aligned to global growth strategy.
  • Build and scale high-performing engineering teams across regions, fostering an AI-first, automation-driven engineering culture.
  • Establish measurable SLAs, SLOs, and operational excellence practices across platform reliability, performance, and security.
  • Ensure that team is delivering as per the planned timelines by helping remove any blockers.
  • Manage the resource and delivery plans for the team.

Qualifications:

  • 14+ years of experience in enterprise technology, with significant experience in eCommerce and digital commerce platforms.
  • 5+ years in engineering leadership roles managing cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in React / Next.js, TypeScript, Java Spring Boot, Node.js, and API design (REST/GraphQL).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, serverless), CI/CD, and production support.
  • Experience with Checkout flows, Payment Gateway integrations (Stripe, Adyen, PayPal etc) along with Retail / ecommerce Domain preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-regional engineering teams.
  • Deep experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) in high-scale environments.
  • Strong understanding of Composable Commerce / MACH principles.
  • Experience designing API-first, event-driven architectures.
  • Experience externalizing high-volume APIs, payments, and inventory systems.
  • Background in retail, global commerce, or high-growth digital businesses.
  • Experience leading modernization programs from legacy platforms to cloud-native architecture.
  • Strong communication skills, strategic thinking skill and executive presence.


AI & Modern Commerce Requirements (Critical):

  • Experience embedding AI / ML capabilities into commerce experiences, including personalization, recommendations, dynamic pricing, or intelligent merchandising.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI use cases in commerce (content automation, search enhancement, chat-based support, campaign optimization).
  • Experience implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows (code generation, automated testing, observability intelligence).
  • Experience enabling AI-driven experimentation (A/B testing at scale, dynamic content).


Technical Depth Required:

  • Headless & composable commerce frameworks.
  • GraphQL & REST APIs.
  • Event streaming (Kafka or equivalent).
  • Cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP).
  • CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation.
  • Infrastructure as Code.
  • Containers & orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Observability & reliability engineering.
  • Payments, Inventory integration.
  • Multi-region performance optimization.
