Tech Lead / Senior Developer – Vision AI

Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building Indias first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications and artificial intelligence.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Tech Lead / Senior Developer to spearhead Vision AI initiatives within our smart manufacturing ecosystem. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development , focusing on image and video analytics solutions deployed across all manufacturing plants. The primary mission is to reduce defects and enhance safety through AI-driven inspection systems, ensuring real-time quality control and operational excellence.

Domain Ownership & Scope

• Own the Vision AI domain , reporting directly to Jay.
• Drive development of automated optical inspection systems for image/video analytics across plants.
• Expand Vision AI applications beyond manufacturing to transportation safety and compliance .

Key Responsibilities & Impact

• Architect and implement real-time, automated vision-based quality inspection systems to detect defects early and prevent large-scale production issues.
• Address current gaps where defects remain undetected for hours, mitigating risks of faulty units and safety hazards.
• Collaborate with operations teams to translate business processes into AI-powered optical solutions .
• Innovate and scale Vision AI use cases for broader safety and compliance applications.

Technical Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor a growing team (currently 6 interns, scaling to 25 by March).
• Ensure solution architecture compliance and scalability across multiple plants.
• Conduct code reviews , design architecture, and contribute as a hands-on developer.
• Rapidly switch between different AI/ML models based on evolving use cases.
• Act as the business interface , aligning technical solutions with operational needs.

Key Skills & Search Terms

• Vision AI, Automated Optical Inspection, Image/Video Analytics, Real-Time Defect Detection.
• Strong experience in:
• Machine Learning algorithms
• Object detection & Image segmentation
• Familiarity with video and image processing ML algorithms
• Proficiency in Python and one additional backend language (C++/Java).
• Experience with cloud platforms , containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Computer Vision , edge deployment (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson), and MLOps frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years in software development, with 3+ years in AI/ML leadership roles.
• Experience in manufacturing, robotics, or semiconductor industries.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT).
