Job Description:
Material & Special Process Engineering
- Evaluate and select materials (metals, alloys, composites) based on design intent and customer requirements, ensuring compliance with AMS/ASTM standards.
- Conduct material characterization, metallurgical evaluation, mechanical testing, and failure analysis.
- Develop and validate special processes including Heat Treatment, Surface Treatments (anodizing, passivation, plating), Welding/Brazing, Coating & Painting.
- Apply method engineering principles to define optimal process sequences, parameters, and controls for special processes.
- Maintain complete material traceability and adherence to aerospace material control practices.
NADCAP, AS9100 & AS13100 Compliance
- Possess solid understanding of NADCAP requirements for Heat Treatment and Surface Treatment processes.
- Prepare, review, and update Process Specifications (PS), PQRs, WIs, and technical documents in line with AS9100, AS13100/RM13010, customer-specific requirements (HAL, ISRO, Airbus, Boeing).
- Support and lead audits related to NADCAP, customer process audits, internal QMS audits, and special process assessments.
- Ensure continuous compliance and readiness across all process lines.
Process Validation, Qualification & Continuous Improvement
- Execute Material & Process Qualification activities including FAI, PPAP, and NADCAP-aligned validations.
- Lead trials for new materials, tooling, machining conditions, and heat-treatment cycles to ensure manufacturable and repeatable processes.
- Use SPC, PFMEA, MSA, Lean tools, and DOE for process improvement, cost reduction, and scrap reduction initiatives.
- Drive capability studies and ensure robust process outcomes through structured problem-solving (8D, RCA, Fishbone, 5 Why).
Production & Manpower Management
- Manage day-to-day production activities for special process areas, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and delivery KPIs.
- Plan and deploy manpower efficiently, handle shift operations, resolve shop-floor issues, and ensure skill utilization.
- Train and guide operators, inspectors, and engineers on process parameters, quality expectations, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Design, and Supply Chain functions for smooth shop-floor execution.
Cross-Functional & Supplier Collaboration
- Provide technical expertise for supplier qualification, process approval, audits, and onboarding of special process vendors.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve material or process-related non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Support customer interactions, review technical queries, and present process capabilities during audits or visits.
- Ensure alignment between engineering requirements, shop-floor execution, and customer deliverables.
Adherence to Safety, Standards and Compliance
- Promote and maintain a culture of safety, good housekeeping, and adherence to operational standards.
- Ensure adherence to systems and documentation as per AS9100, EMS, OHSAS & ISMS, and customer-specific requirements.
- Valuing the information received & effort spent in creating every piece of information. Ensuring the right information is accessed by right individuals. Ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information.
- Responsible for controlling the usage of energy sources for Environmental Protection and Energy Security for sustainable growth.
Qualifications Required:
BTech/MTech in Metallurgy or Chemical engg.

- Knowledge of operator and process efficiency monitoring
- Working Knowledge of Heat Treatment processes & surface treatment department in aerospace domain
