Senior Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering (GG11) – Real Time

We are hiring Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to expand a team supporting LSEG’s Real Time application space which provides thousands of clients access to trading and market data globally. This team efficiently mitigates operational risk allowing for fast product innovation to improve customer experience. You will own operational support and automate away operational toil in our existing and new platform, create dynamic and reusable observability components, and cultivate subject matter expertise. You will be part of a diverse, globally distributed team providing “follow the sun” support, and will have the opportunity to hone skills in a fast-paced environment that processes real-time data.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the recovery of incidents, analyse the facts with speed, perform troubleshooting activities, and drive actions through others via incident recovery meetings.
  • Continuously improve operations processes via toil automation. Ensure that all alerts are actionable, and where unnecessary alerts are found, drive their removal in coordination with development teams.
  • Maintain a pristine production environment by delivering changes safely to production and ensuring changing deployments occur only after thorough assessment and adequate understanding of risks.
  • Write informative incident reports and champion the interests of customer in the post-incident review discussions. Review and approve customer statements.
  • As a subject matter expert, develop sound knowledge of application dataflows, networking topologies, and maintain troubleshooting knowledge bases.
  • Closely collaborate with application development teams to ensure iterative improvements to production environments are prioritized appropriately in the product backlog.
  • Act as the SRE front door for intake and delivery of new projects. Work with project delivery squads to ensure the produced project artifacts (architectural diagrams, runbooks, and other documentation) are high-quality and thoroughly reviewed, ensure application designs meet robust supportability standards, perform and signoff operational acceptance testing, and lead Game Day activities.

Technical qualifications:

  • Extensive UNIX admin and scripting experience
  • Advanced grasp of networking concepts like TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS resolution
  • Strong grasp of version control (Git)
  • Experience in troubleshooting large distributed systems
  • Experience in configuration and usage of Kubernetes, Docker, and container-based development and applications
  • Proven experience using Python for process automation and tooling integration via APIs
  • Practical experience supporting cloud-native applications (AWS or Azure preferred)
  • Expertise in working with and maintaining observability tooling (DataDog and BigPanda experience is highly desirable)
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field involving software/systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in the industry
