A Day in the Life

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Enterprise Software Engineer specializing in Native Android Development to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing Android applications with a focus on delivering seamless user experiences. As a senior team member, you will also mentor junior developers, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and backend engineers, to define and implement innovative solutions.
Architect scalable, maintainable, and high-performance Android applications.
Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, debugging, and adherence to best practices.
Optimize application performance, memory usage, and responsiveness for a variety of devices.
Stay updated on the latest Android frameworks, tools, and industry trends to propose and implement improvements.
Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
Participate in code reviews, ensuring compliance with company standards and best practices.
Contribute to the documentation of technical designs, processes, and application features.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

8-12 years of professional experience in Android application development.

Technical Expertise:

Proficiency in Java and Kotlin for Android development.
Strong understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Android architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVP).

Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and third-party libraries/frameworks.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Working knowledge in BLE, Telemetry with embedded devices

Problem-Solving:

Excellent debugging and performance optimization skills.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and willingness to mentor and collaborate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin languages
Hands-on experience with Micro EJ platform and tools.
Experience with Android NDK and low-level programming.
Knowledge of app security, encryption, and secure communication protocols.
Familiarity with tools like Firebase, Google Play Console, and analytics platforms.
Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Trello.
Knowledge of lightweight virtualization and optimization techniques for embedded devices.
Experience with debugging tools and performance analysis for Android apps
