A Day in the Life

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Enterprise Software Engineer specializing in Native Android Development to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing Android applications with a focus on delivering seamless user experiences. As a senior team member, you will also mentor junior developers, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and backend engineers, to define and implement innovative solutions.
  • Architect scalable, maintainable, and high-performance Android applications.
  • Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, debugging, and adherence to best practices.
  • Optimize application performance, memory usage, and responsiveness for a variety of devices.
  • Stay updated on the latest Android frameworks, tools, and industry trends to propose and implement improvements.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring compliance with company standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to the documentation of technical designs, processes, and application features.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

  • 8-12 years of professional experience in Android application development.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in Java and Kotlin for Android development.
  • Strong understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Android architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVP).
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and third-party libraries/frameworks.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Working knowledge in BLE, Telemetry with embedded devices

Problem-Solving:

  • Excellent debugging and performance optimization skills.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and willingness to mentor and collaborate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin languages
  • Hands-on experience with Micro EJ platform and tools.
  • Experience with Android NDK and low-level programming.
  • Knowledge of app security, encryption, and secure communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with tools like Firebase, Google Play Console, and analytics platforms.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Trello.
  • Knowledge of lightweight virtualization and optimization techniques for embedded devices.
  • Experience with debugging tools and performance analysis for Android apps
