About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on and experienced Tech Lead to join our growing engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of talented engineers, driving the technical direction of our backend, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. You will work closely with Product Managers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust and scalable technical solutions.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Own the overall architecture and design of our systems, ensuring scalability, performance, maintainability, and security.
• Hands-on in Ruby, Python, SQL, NoSQL and event-based systems is a must. Overall the individual should be excited to build highly scalable complex distributed systems.
• Mentor and guide engineers on technical best practices, problem-solving, and career development.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.

Product Development:

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Evaluate the technical feasibility and impact of product features.
• Contribute to the definition and refinement of product roadmaps.

Team Management:

• Lead and motivate a high-performing team of engineers.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and guide the engineering wrt to their career growth.
• Develop proactive and ownership culture.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.

AI related Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI applications using the Langchain framework.
• Integrate these AI solutions seamlessly with our Zendesk ecosystem via Zendesk APIs.
• Build and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to provide accurate, context-aware responses from our knowledge bases.
• Develop and implement autonomous AI agents to handle tasks like ticket summarization, automated categorization, and intelligent response suggestions.
• Collaborate with our support and product teams to understand student needs and refine the AI solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 4 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Proficiency in Ruby is a must and React is good to have.
• At least 1 year of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and high-performance backend systems.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language. Preferable - Python
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Good communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Langchain: Proven, hands-on project experience building applications with the Langchain framework.
• Zendesk Integration: Demonstrable experience working with and integrating Zendesk APIs.
• RAG: Solid understanding and practical experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• AI Agents: Experience in designing and building AI agents using Langchain and MCP/ similar frameworks.
