Position: SAP ABAP Developer

Location: Bangalore

Work mode: Hybrid

Experience: 7 to 9 Years

Role Summary:

Experienced and hands-on SAP ABAP Developer with strong expertise in CORE ABAP development across ECC 5.0 and higher systems. The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of SAP business documents, master and transaction data, and integration across SD, MM, FICO, and PP modules. Exposure to SAP S/4HANA ABAP development and global SAP implementations is an added advantage. This role requires strong SDLC adherence, technical ownership, and collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and enhance SAP ABAP applications in ECC 5.0 and higher systems.
• Perform technical analysis with strong understanding of SAP business documents, master data, and transaction data across SD, MM, FICO, and PP modules.
• Develop solutions using BADI, BAPI, User Exits, Enhancements, Reports, Dialog Programming, SAP Scripts, SMARTFORMS, Adobe Forms, Interfaces, and Conversion Programs.
• Ensure adherence to SAP abstraction layers (Open SQL vs Native SQL, Data Dictionary, OS commands).
• Develop object-oriented applications using ABAP Objects.
• Perform root cause analysis using SAP tools such as ABAP Debugger, SQL Trace, Code Inspector, Application Logs, and Transport Management.
• Work with interfaces and messaging frameworks including Web Services, Proxy, EDI/IDOC, and XI/PI.
• Participate in incident management, issue resolution, and service delivery within SLA commitments.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, unit test cases, test scripts, and conduct code reviews.
• Collaborate with global teams, partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to SDLC, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

Technical Competencies:

• 510+ years of ABAP development experience in SAP ECC environments.
• Strong CORE ABAP expertise (mandatory).
• Solid understanding of SAP SD, MM, FICO, and PP modules and their integration.
• Experience with ABAP Objects and object-oriented programming concepts.
• Hands-on experience with interfaces (IDOC, Web Services, Proxy, PI/XI).
• Exposure to eCATT, BDC, and Transaction Recorder.
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with incident management tools such as Remedy.
• Good understanding of SAP architecture and enterprise data concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Good to Have (Not Mandatory):

• SAP S/4HANA ABAP development experience.
• Knowledge of CDS Views, AMDP, BOPF, RAP, and ABAP Cloud.
• Experience with SAPUI5 and custom Fiori application development.
• SAP Gateway (SEGW) modeling and troubleshooting.
• Experience with SAP Personas and frontend JavaScript.
• Knowledge of BRF+.
• Experience with SQL Monitor (SQLM) and SCMON.
• Strong OO programming expertise in complex SAP developments.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 510+ years of relevant SAP ABAP experience.
• Experience working on global SAP projects is a plus.
• Strong customer focus with ability to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate across multiple teams.
