To accelerate our growth in the Indian market, we are seeking a highly driven and technically minded Sales Manager India with experience in capital equipment sales to advanced manufacturing customers.
Role Overview
The Sales Manager India will spearhead SCIPlasmas market expansion across India. The role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities within semiconductors, automotive electronics, PCB manufacturing, medical devices, aerospace, and other advanced industrial sectors that require plasma surface treatment.
This is a hunter role with substantial travel (6080%), direct customer interaction, and responsibility for the full sales cycle from prospecting to deal closure.
The position reports directly to the Sales Director South East Asia and dotted-line to the CEO of SCI Automation for all product-technical matters.
This is a strategic, high-visibility position with strong growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development & Prospecting
- Map the Indian market within the first 2 months, identifying target customers in semiconductor, automotive, electronics, aerospace, life sciences, and other relevant sectors.
- Proactively identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities.
- Develop direct relationships with end customers and drive early-stage engagement.
Sales Execution
- Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, technical discussions, RFQ/tender management, demos, negotiation, and closing.
- Present SCIPlasma solutions effectively to engineering, R&D, production, and procurement teams.
- Coordinate customer sample evaluations with our India-based applications lab and ensure smooth communication between customer and engineering teams.
- Track opportunity pipeline and maintain structured visit activity (KPIs for number of visits per month).
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with key accounts and prospective customers.
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into technical and commercial proposals.
- Provide periodic reports on market developments, competitive landscape, and customer insights.
Partnership Development
- Identify and evaluate potential strategic partners and distributors, while keeping a direct-sales-first strategy.
- Onboard and manage distributors when strategically required.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the Sales Director SEA for strategy and commercial decisions.
- Work directly with the CEO and engineering team on technical discussions and product positioning.
- Collaborate with PMECs local technical team for demos, service support, and sample processing.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- New customer acquisition and number of active opportunities.
- Number of customer visits and prospecting activities per month.
- Sample submissions from customers (expected within 26 months).
- At least one sale within the first 6 months.
- Successful onboarding of distributors (if required for market reach).
Required Experience & Skills
Technical & Industry Background
- 47 years of experience in capital equipment sales to industrial or advanced manufacturing markets.
- Prior experience selling into semiconductor, electronics, automotive, or industrial automation sectors is strongly preferred.
- Engineering background is a plus (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics), but not mandatory.
- Understanding of industrial processes, equipment, or automation solutions.
- Experience with long, consultative sales cycles.
Sales & Business Skills
- Proven success in generating new business from scratch.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage technical discussions and translate customer needs into equipment solutions.
- Organized, disciplined, and capable of working independently in a field-driven role.
Soft Skills
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Strong interpersonal skills; confident speaking with engineers, managers, and executives.
- Self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable with extensive travel (6080% of working time).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: 14L 16L INR per annum
