Job Description
About Turing:
Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the worlds leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L
Role Overview:
We are seeking an AI Training Specialist (Biology) to design advanced Biology problems for training and evaluating state-of-the-art AI models. The role focuses on converting complex, often diagram-based biological concepts into precise, text-only, solvable problems.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and curate upper-undergraduate and graduate-level Biology problems with clear, fully worked solutions.
- Create challenging, realistic tasks that expose failure modes in frontier AI systems.
- Convert diagram-heavy or multi-part biology questions into self-contained, text-only problems with definitive answers.
- Write rigorous explanations and verify scientific accuracy throughout the problem and solution.
- Evaluate AI-generated responses, diagnose errors, and refine questions to meet difficulty targets.
- Review Biology tasks created by others and improve clarity, correctness, and realism.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain consistent standards across large task batches.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree or PhD in Biology or a closely related field.
- Strong upper-undergraduate or higher-level Biology background.
- Fluent written English with the ability to write precise scientific explanations.
- Experience with teaching, grading, exam creation, or research-based analytical work.
- High attention to detail and consistency in terminology and reasoning.
- Interest in AI model evaluation and how training data affects model behavior.
Biology Domain Expertise:
- Molecular Biology
- Cell Biology
- Genetics & Genomics
- Biochemistry
- Physiology
- Ecology or Systems Biology
Ability to translate pathways, gene regulation, and experimental setups into text-only formats
Experience with quantitative or semi-quantitative biology (e.g., enzyme kinetics, growth rates, genetic probabilities)
Nice-to-Have:
- Prior experience creating AI training or educational content
- Familiarity with LLM evaluation pipelines and difficulty calibration
Perks of Freelancing With Turing:
- Work in a fully remote environment.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading LLM companies.
- Potential for contract extension based on performance and project needs.
Offer Details:
- Commitments Required: 40 hours per week with overlap 4 hours with PST
- Engagement type : Contractor assignment(no medical/paid leave)
- Duration of contract : 2 month possibility to extend
