Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Quality Assurance Engineer based in Chennai. The role includes executing test cases, conducting manual testing, and contributing to the quality assurance process.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Design, develop, and execute detailed manual test cases based on product and system requirements.
  • Perform end-to-end testing on Android-based devices, including system-level validation.
  • Execute device testing scenarios including firmware validation, regression testing, upgrade/downgrade testing, and stability testing.
  • Flash Android devices with different builds (user, userdebug, eng) and validate post-flash behavior.
  • Understand and validate differences between test key and release key builds, including signing, certification, and production readiness validation.
  • Perform N-1 to N upgrade testing and validate OTA scenarios.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using Jira or equivalent defect management tools.
  • Capture logs (adb logs, bugreports, tombstones) and perform basic log analysis to assist engineering teams.
  • Follow detailed test steps with high execution discipline and ensure accurate test reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and cross-functional QA teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Participate in requirement reviews and test case reviews to provide QA feedback early in the cycle.
  • Maintain and update test results using test management tools such as Zephyr or TestRail.


Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manual QA, preferably in Android or embedded device environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Android device testing and system-level validation.
  • Experience flashing devices and working with different Android build types (user, userdebug, eng).
  • Clear understanding of test key vs release key builds and production certification implications.
  • Familiarity with ADB commands, log collection, and basic log analysis.
  • Experience with OTA upgrade/downgrade validation.
  • Solid understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira and test management tools (Zephyr, TestRail, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional environments.
  • Ability to strictly follow test procedures and complete execution with high attention to detail.
