Job Title: Publication Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and senior Publication Designer and Typesetter to join our creative team. This role will be responsible for the design, layout, and typesetting of various printed and digital materials, with a focus on books. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for aesthetics, strong technical skills, and a passion for the publishing industry. You will collaborate closely with authors, editors, and other team members to create visually appealing publications that align with our brand and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and typeset book interiors, covers, and promotional materials using industry-standard software.
• Ensure consistency in typography, styles, and visual elements across all publications.
• Review typesetting outputs and collaborate to ensure checks and quality control.
• Collaborate with authors and editors to create layouts that enhance readability and aesthetics.
• Prepare files for print and digital distribution, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
• Review and proofread all typeset materials to identify and correct any typographical, layout, or design errors.
• Stay updated on design trends, typography, and digital technologies to continually improve design quality.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of templates for various publication formats.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide input on the creative direction of new projects and contribute to brainstorming sessions.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Typography, or a related field.
• Proven experience (minimum of 9 years) in typesetting and graphic design, preferably within the publishing industry.
• Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe InDesign (mandatory), Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Experience with print and digital publishing and eBook formatting.
• Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and print production processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• A portfolio showcasing previous work and design and typesetting projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with print production techniques and vendor communication.
• A passion for books and a strong understanding of the publishing industry is highly desirable.
