Job Title: Procurement Manager Construction / Infrastructure

Location: Chennai / Project-based (as applicable)

Experience: 1216 years in procurement for construction, real estate, or infrastructure projects

Education: BE / BTech (Civil preferred) OR MBA (Finance / Operations / Supply Chain)

Role Overview

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for end-to-end procurement operations across construction projects, covering strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiation, cost control, and timely material availability.

The role requires close coordination with project sites, engineering, finance, stores, and vendors to ensure materials are procured at optimal cost, right quality, and within project timelines.

This role is modeled on hands-on experience seen in the sample CVs, spanning large residential projects, infrastructure works, and multi-project procurement environments.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

• Manage end-to-end procurement of civil, finishing, MEP, and project-related materials
• Analyze BOQs and project requirements to consolidate demand across sites
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors and suppliers
• Conduct market studies and rate benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing

Vendor Management & Negotiation

• Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic and preferred vendors
• Lead price negotiations, payment terms discussions, and delivery commitments
• Evaluate vendor performance on cost, quality, delivery, and compliance
• Resolve supplier issues related to quality rejections, delays, and deviations

Contracting & Documentation

• Manage RFQs, RFPs, quotations, comparative statements, and approvals
• Issue Purchase Orders through ERP / SAP / NAV systems
• Ensure proper documentation for contract closure, audits, and compliance

Cost Control & Savings

• Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, alternate sourcing, and volume leverage
• Track procurement budgets and ensure alignment with project cost targets
• Identify risks related to price fluctuations and supply constraints and propose mitigation plans

Coordination with Projects & Internal Teams

• Coordinate with project heads, site teams, engineering, stores, and planning teams for timely material delivery
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials to meet construction schedules
• Work closely with finance and accounts for bill processing, reconciliation, and taxation matters

Inventory & Logistics

• Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimum stock and minimal wastage
• Track orders, logistics, and deliveries to project sites
• Ensure compliance with quality standards during receipt and inspection of materials

Reporting & Governance

• Maintain accurate records of POs, invoices, contracts, and vendor data
• Prepare procurement MIS reports including cost savings, vendor performance, and spend analysis
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and internal controls
