Procurement / Sourcing Manager – Bags & Luggage

Role Objective

Own end-to-end procurement and sourcing for the bags & luggage category by travelling to factories, onboarding vendors, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring high-quality, on-time production at scale for a fast-growing consumer brand.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sourcing, Travel & Vendor Onboarding (End-to-End)

• Travel extensively to domestic and international factories to identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors
• Own factory audits, compliance checks, and capability assessments before onboarding
• Build and manage vendor base across India, China, Vietnam, and Bangladesh
• Lead end-to-end vendor onboarding from discovery to stable bulk production
• Develop alternate suppliers to reduce dependency and sourcing risk
• Maintain vendor scorecards covering cost, quality, delivery, and reliability

2. Commercials & Costing

• Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms
• Drive continuous cost optimization without compromising quality
• Track raw material price movements and mitigate cost impact
• Own margin visibility at SKU and category level

3. Product Development & Production

• Work closely with design and product teams on:

Materials: ABS, PC, Polyester, PU

• Components: zippers, frames, wheels, locks, locks systems, trims
• Manage sampling pilot runs bulk production end-to-end
• Own production planning and timelines aligned with demand forecasts

4. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure factory quality standards and audit compliance
• Reduce rejection rates and post-production defects
• Own QC processes, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
• Ensure consistent quality across vendors and batches

5. Operations & Scale Planning

• Forecast vendor capacity and production feasibility
• Prevent last-minute production bottlenecks
• Support rapid scale-up during peak demand cycles and new launches

Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable)

• Deep category expertise in bags & luggage
• Hands-on experience sourcing bags at commercial scale
• Proven experience travelling to factories and onboarding vendors
• Strong negotiation, costing, and margin ownership skills
• Factory-level exposure covering sampling, production, and QC
• Experience working in a fast-paced D2C / consumer brand
• Strong ownership mindset not a PO-processing role
