Position Details

Position Title: Planning Manager / Engineer Solar & BESS

Department: Project Planning / PMO

Location: Project Sites / Chennai / Ahmedabad (as required)

Reports To: Project Director / Project Manager

Role Overview

The Planning Manager is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, resource plans, progress tracking, delay analysis, and reporting for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction projects. The role ensures timely project execution with structured planning and coordination across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

-Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project.

-Prepare WBS, activity lists, baselines, resource-loaded schedules, and cost-loaded schedules.

-Plan civil, mechanical, electrical, and BESS installation workflows.

-Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams for schedule inputs.

Monitoring & Progress Tracking

-Track daily/weekly progress and update schedules accordingly.

-Monitor critical path, float, milestone achievements, and delays.

-Conduct site visits to verify actual progress.

-Update dashboards, KPIs, and generate planned vs. actual performance charts.

Reporting & Documentation

-Prepare Daily/Weekly/Monthly progress reports for management and clients.

-Maintain documentation for engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules, and construction progress.

-Prepare Scurve, manpower histogram, cash flow forecast, and productivity reports.

Delay Analysis & Recovery Planning

-Identify schedule risks, bottlenecks, and potential delays.

-Conduct delay analysis using CPM techniques.

-Prepare mitigation and recovery plans along with resequencing of activities.

-Support claims, extension of time (EoT) documentation, and root-cause analysis.

Coordination & Interface Management

-Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, design team, SCM, QA/QC, EHS, and commissioning team.

-Ensure proper alignment between engineering releases, material delivery, and construction readiness.

-Participate in review meetings and present planning updates to stakeholders.

BESSSpecific Planning Activities

-Plan installation sequencing for battery containers, PCS, HVAC, firesuppression systems, transformers, and control systems.

-Monitor longlead item procurement such as batteries, inverters, switchgear, and power electronics.

-Develop commissioning and testing schedules for integrated Solar + BESS systems.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

-Expertise in Primavera P6 / MS Project.

-Understanding of solar PV construction, BESS EPC workflows, and commissioning activities.

-Knowledge of resource planning, cost control, and project controls.

-Strong analytical capability for delay analysis and risk assessment.

Soft Skills

-Strong communication, presentation, and coordination skills.

-Ability to work under pressure and manage diverse stakeholders.

-Detail-oriented with high organizational discipline.

Qualifications & Experience

-B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering.

-515 years of experience in project planning in EPC/Infrastructure.

-Minimum 3+ years experience in Solar / BESS projects preferred.

-Primavera P6 certification (preferred).
