Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Python Developer who can architect and build scalable backend systems powering AI, Computer Vision based systems, real-time video processing (WebRTC), tele-rehab infrastructure. You will work directly with the founders and AI engineering team to design high-performance, production-grade backend infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Architecture & Engineering

• Design and build scalable APIs using FastAPI
• Architect modular, maintainable systems with strong OOP principles
• Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control
• Build production-grade REST and WebSocket services
• Design database schemas for high-throughput medical data

2. Real-Time Systems & Media Infrastructure

• Build and optimize WebRTC-based video streaming pipelines
• Develop real-time processing systems using WebSockets
• Integrate AI models into live video streams
• Optimize latency for posture/gait detection use cases

3. AI & ML Systems Integration

• Integrate Computer Vision models (MediaPipe, OpenCV, YOLO, etc.)
• Work with NLP pipelines (LLM-based systems, structured report generation)
• Deploy and manage inference systems
• Optimize model performance for real-time use

4. Systems Scalability & Reliability

• Implement asynchronous systems (async/await, event-driven architecture)
• Build distributed systems-ready backend
• Design fault-tolerant APIs
• Optimize performance under concurrent load

5. Engineering Leadership

• Lead backend code reviews
• Define coding standards and architecture guidelines
• Mentor junior developers
• Collaborate with CV/AI engineers and frontend teams

Required Technical Skills

Core Backend

• Strong proficiency in Python (3.x)
• Deep understanding of OOP & system design
• Experience with FastAPI (must)
• Experience building production-grade REST APIs
• Async programming expertise

Real-Time Systems

• WebRTC integration experience
• WebSocket-based communication systems
• Handling live video streams in production

AI/ML Integration

• Experience integrating CV/NLP models into backend systems
• Familiarity with libraries such as:
• OpenCV
• MediaPipe
• PyTorch / TensorFlow
• HuggingFace Transformers
• Model deployment and inference optimization

Databases & Infrastructure

• PostgreSQL / MongoDB
• Redis / caching systems
• Docker (required)
• CI/CD workflows
• Cloud deployment (AWS preferred)

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare or medical device software exposure
• Experience building HIPAA-compliant or regulated systems
• Experience with video analytics or motion analysis systems
• Exposure to microservices architecture
• Prior experience leading backend teams
