Reporting to: Battery Test Engineer / Test Lead - E&E Reliability

About the Team and the Role

The Product Validation, Testing CoC team at Ather is responsible for the efficient, safe, and compliant execution of battery testing protocols, focusing on lab operations, test execution integrity, and data collection accuracy.

This role is for a Lab Shift In-charge who will maintain the operational readiness of all testing assets and ensure the integrity of the lab environment during assigned shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise assigned component-level reliability and electrical testing on lab chambers and rigs.

• Assemble, configure, and verify complex test setups and equipment according to established protocols and test plans.

• Execute and deliver assigned swimlane and sprint tasks on schedule while adhering to all test standards and inspection procedures.

• Follow strictly defined safety protocols, specifically regarding thermal runaway and high-voltage safety.

• Collect, record, and verify the accuracy of all test data logs, status updates, and initial observations.

• Identify and document failures or anomalies, providing detailed execution data to support Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

• Prepare comprehensive shift changeover reports to communicate progress and critical issues to relieving shifts and management.

• Maintain the lab environment and equipment readiness, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and coordinating necessary repairs.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a testing lab, manufacturing, or operations environment, preferably with exposure to battery packs or high-voltage systems.

Must Have Competencies

• Execute battery testing protocols using specialized lab equipment and data acquisition systems.

• Apply reliability testing standards and procedures to component-level electrical testing.

• Manage high-voltage safety protocols and thermal runaway procedures within a laboratory environment.

• Utilize Excel or lab-specific software for precise technical data recording and reporting.

Good to Have Competencies

• Perform routine maintenance and calibration monitoring for laboratory testing assets.

• Conduct initial failure documentation and provide data support for Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

• Execute shift-based operational reporting and technical handovers in a 24/7 lab environment.

• Troubleshoot equipment anomalies and test setup inconsistencies promptly.
