General Manager Operations

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (frequent travel to site)

Reports To: Board of Directors (dotted line to Managing Director)

Role

Overall responsibility for strategy, operations, assets, and P&L of the companys industrial solar salt business in Tanzania, including salt fields, processing facilities, and domestic/export operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute business strategy aligned with the Board
• Full ownership of operations, infrastructure, manufacturing, and asset performance
• Lead through site GM with strong governance and regular on-site reviews
• Full P&L responsibility : budgets, capex, costs, EBITDA, cash flow
• Provide strategic oversight to sales, pricing, and market expansion (domestic & export)
• Ensure regulatory compliance, risk management, and asset protection
• Build and lead senior teams; manage regulators, customers, financiers, and local stakeholders

Candidate Profile

• Engineering degree (Chemical preferred); MBA preferred
• 510 years in asset-heavy industrial/manufacturing businesses (chemicals/salt/minerals)
• Prior GM / Operations / Plant Head role with P&L ownership
• Africa experience preferred (East Africa ideal)
• Strong operational, financial, and leadership capability
