Fix Real-Time GPS Tracking Stability Issue in Driver Mobile App (Android / iOS)

We are looking for an experienced mobile app developer to help us resolve a real-time GPS tracking issue in our driver application.

Our system is used for ground transportation operations (chauffeur, taxi, limousine) , where accurate and stable live location tracking is business-critical.

Contractual Job

Problem Summary

• When the driver is actively driving, the app does not consistently send GPS data to the backend
• GPS tracking behavior is unstable across different devices and OS versions
• Location updates sometimes stop, delay, or send inconsistent intervals
• The issue is more noticeable during:
• Background mode
• Screen locked
• Battery optimization enabled
• Device/OS-specific restrictions

Scope of Work

• Analyze current GPS tracking implementation
• Identify root causes for inconsistent location updates
• Fix real-time GPS data transmission to backend
• Ensure:
• Stable background tracking
• Proper handling of OS-level restrictions
• Consistent update intervals while driving
• Optimize battery usage without losing tracking accuracy
• Test across multiple devices and OS versions
• Provide clear explanation and documentation of the fix

Technical Requirements (Preferred)

• Strong experience with:
• Android & iOS GPS / Location Services
• Background location tracking
• Foreground services (Android)
• iOS background modes & permissions
• Experience handling:
• Battery optimization issues
• Device manufacturer restrictions (Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.)
• Backend communication (REST / WebSockets / Firebase / similar)
• Ability to debug real-world tracking scenarios
