About the Team and the Role

The Product Validation team at Ather is responsible for ensuring the software quality of all vehicle ECU firmware and their interactions within the ecosystem. By simulating complex user scenarios, the team acts as the “first customer,” identifying bugs and providing constructive feedback to ensure a seamless ride experience.

This role is for a technical expert who will validate critical ECUs (BCM, BMS, Motor Controller) and their communication protocols. You will deep-dive into features, develop automation scripts, and manage the end-to-end testing lifecycle to ensure Ather’s firmware is robust, safe, and scalable.

Responsibilities

• Create test plans, develop test setups, and manage test execution, data analytics, and bug reporting.

• Perform component and system-level testing for vehicle ECUs including BCM, BMS, and Motor Controllers.

• Conduct rigorous CAN/UDS protocol testing, alongside Bootloader, Gateway, and OTA validation.

• Develop test automation scripts using Python, Embedded C, Shell, or CAPL.

• Analyze functional dependencies to prepare comprehensive regression test plans for firmware upgrades and hardware changes.

• Utilize Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems and Fault Management System (FMS) simulations for validation.

• Execute both black-box and white-box testing to ensure software integrity.

• Assist the development team in root-cause analysis of complex firmware issues.

Experience and Qualifications

• BE / B.Tech in CSE, ECE, or EEE.

• 2 to 5 years of thorough experience in firmware and software testing, specifically on electric vehicle platforms or ECUs.

Must Have Competencies

• Validation of automotive communication protocols including CAN and UDS.

• Implementation of automated test suites using Python, Embedded C, or CAPL scripting.

• Technical testing of Bootloader, Gateway, and Over-the-Air (OTA) update mechanisms.

• Execution of ECU testing using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) development environments.

Good to Have Competencies

• Architecture-level testing of Microcontrollers, Microprocessors, or DSPs including PWM, DMA, and Timers.

• Simulation of Fault Management Systems (FMS) to validate vehicle diagnostics and safety.

• Analysis of firmware/hardware functional dependencies for regression testing.

• Testing of Android-based UI applications and API integrations within the vehicle ecosystem.
