About the Institution


Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) is establishing its first India campus in Mumbai, bringing globally benchmarked education to one of Indias major innovation hubs. Scheduled to open in 2026, the campus will deliver internationally aligned academic programs while maintaining strong academic integration with the Chicago campus of Illinois Tech.

The Mumbai campus will foster innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry engagement while upholding the academic standards and governance framework of Illinois Tech.


About the Role


The Director Academic Services & Records will serve as a senior institutional leader responsible for overseeing academic administration, governance, and regulatory compliance at the Illinois Tech Mumbai campus.

This role will be central to establishing systems that uphold academic integrity, align with Indian higher education regulations, and maintain global academic standards consistent with Illinois Techs Chicago campus.


The Director Academic Services & Records will oversee student records, registration, examinations, academic scheduling, certifications, and regulatory reporting, while acting as a key liaison with the Chicago campus to ensure academic governance, accreditation, and institutional standards remain globally aligned.


Key Responsibilities

Academic Administration & Governance

  • Lead and manage academic administrative functions including student enrolment, academic calendars, course scheduling, examinations, and certification processes.
  • Maintain secure and accurate academic records aligned with institutional and legal standards.
  • Serve as Secretary to statutory bodies including Academic Council, Boards of Studies, and Examination Boards.
  • Oversee integration and operational effectiveness of the Banner Student Information System, ensuring seamless coordination between the Chicago and Mumbai campuses for centralized academic data reporting and institutional analytics.


Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Indian regulatory bodies such as UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NIRF, and other statutory authorities.
  • Support alignment with international accreditation frameworks including AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and HLC (Higher Learning Commission) applicable to Illinois Tech.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings, accreditation documentation, and institutional compliance reports.
  • Support Chicago-led accreditation cycles by ensuring timely submission of Mumbai campus academic and institutional data.
  • Coordinate preparation of institutional data required for U.S. federal and accreditation reporting, drawing from Mumbai campus academic records.
  • Work closely with Illinois Techs academic governance teams to maintain globally aligned academic standards and compliance protocols.


Student Policy & Academic Conduct

  • Develop and implement policies related to academic progression, attendance, credit transfers, re-registration, and academic integrity.
  • Monitor student academic standing, graduation readiness, and appeals.
  • Lead disciplinary and grievance processes in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Student Services.


Parent & Guardian Communication

  • Serve as the point of contact for parent/guardian communication regarding academic progress, compliance, and documentation needs.
  • Ensure all communication adheres to institutional policies and confidentiality standards.


Institutional Risk, Policy & Legal Oversight

  • Draft, maintain, and review academic policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Assess and manage risks related to academic operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure readiness for international accreditation reviews, regulatory inspections, and compliance audits.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and internal audit teams for inspections and regulatory reviews.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, accreditation readiness, and institutional development.
  • Represent the institution at external forums, regulatory visits, and conferences.


Qualifications

Professional Experience

  • 1012 years of relevant experience in higher education, including 5+ years in a senior role such as Deputy Registrar.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian higher education regulations (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NIRF).
  • Familiarity with international accreditation frameworks such as AACSB and HLC.
  • Experience with international or transnational education models preferred.


Academic Credentials

  • Masters or doctoral degree in any discipline.
  • Additional certifications in Higher Education Policy, Quality Assurance, or Academic Governance are an advantage.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in global higher education trends and compliance frameworks.


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Indian regulatory frameworks and global accreditation standards.
  • Experience with academic management systems such as Banner or equivalent enterprise student information systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, documentation rigor, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in compliance-driven or high-stakes environments.
  • High ethical standards and integrity in decision-making.
