Business Head - Manufacturing

Looking for a "Business Head- Manufacturing" for a leading Zipper industry based in Chennai

The Business Head Manufacturing will lead end-to-end operations, business growth, and profitability of the zipper manufacturing division. This role is responsible for strategic planning, production efficiency, sales expansion, cost optimisation, and team leadership to scale the business sustainably.

Greenfield Project Leadership

• Lead end-to-end setup of new manufacturing facility (land, layout, machinery, utilities, manpower)
• Plan plant capacity, workflow design, and production ramp-up
• Manage vendor selection, machinery installation, and commissioning
• Ensure on-time and within-budget project execution

Business Strategy & Market Expansion

• Develop and execute growth strategies for domestic and export markets
• Build strong customer base among garment manufacturers, brands, and exporters
• Drive product portfolio expansion (metal, plastic, invisible zippers, customized solutions)
• Track market trends and competitor positioning

Manufacturing Operations & Industry 4.0 Adoption

• Implement Industry 4.0 technologies such as automation, IoT-enabled machines, real-time production monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data analytics
• Optimize production efficiency through lean manufacturing and digital tools
• Ensure high-quality standards and continuous improvement
• Oversee production planning, inventory, procurement, and logistics

Financial & P&L Management

• Own full P&L responsibility of the manufacturing unit
• Control CAPEX, OPEX, and working capital
• Drive cost optimization and margin improvement

Leadership & Organization Building

• Build and lead cross-functional teams (production, quality, sales, supply chain, engineering)
• Develop strong second-line leadership
• Promote a performance-driven and safety-first culture

Customer Relationship & Key Accounts

• Lead major customer negotiations and strategic partnerships
• Ensure high customer satisfaction and long-term contracts

Key Requirements

Engineering degree with MBA preferred

15-20+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership

Strong greenfield project setup experience in manufacturing plants

Exposure to Industry 4.0 / smart factory initiatives

Experience in zipper, textile accessories, or related manufacturing sectors preferred

Proven P&L ownership and growth achievements
