Battery Pack Systems Engineer

This role designs, builds, connects, and tests battery packs for electric vehicles (EVs) or battery energy storage systems (BESS). Youll connect cell makers, mechanical designers, and software/BMS teams to meet performance, safety, and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Architecture: Lead battery pack layouts, electrical wiring, and pick components like contactors and fuses.

Requirements Management: Turn customer needs into specs for voltage, capacity, heat, and weight.

Simulation & Modelling: Use tools to predict pack performance, heat, and long-term wear.

Thermal & Structural Design: Create cooling systems and ensure strong mechanical build.

Safety & Validation (DVP&R): Plan tests, do DFMEA (failure analysis), and follow rules like UN38.3, ISO 26262, and Regulation 100.

Testing & Troubleshooting: Help with prototypes, lab tests, and fixing issues in development or production.

Supplier Liaison: Work with suppliers to match component specs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering.

Experience: 36+ years in battery systems or electric powertrains.

Technical Knowledge: Strong grasp of Lithium-ion cells, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and battery safety.

Software Tools: Skilled in CAD (like SolidWorks, Catia), simulation (like MATLAB/Simulink), and requirements tools.

Communication: Good at writing reports and presenting to customers or teams.
