Title: Backup & Disaster Recovery Engineer

Organization: IT Infrastructure & Operations

Location: India Hub

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise backup infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
• Develop and maintain backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies aligned with business requirements and compliance mandates
• Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans for critical systems and applications
• Conduct regular DR testing exercises to validate recovery procedures and maintain Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) / Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) metrics for critical systems
• Perform data restoration requests in accordance with established procedures and SLAs
• Research and evaluate emerging backup and DR technologies and lead implementation projects for new platforms
• Develop automation scripts and workflows to improve operational efficiency
• Maintain regulatory compliance of backup and DR solutions and provide regular reports on backup performance
• Participate in audit activities and provide evidence of data protection controls
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for backup failures and emergency restoration requests

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience in backup and disaster recovery engineering or systems administration
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Dell EMC Avamar/Data Domain)
• Proven experience designing and implementing disaster recovery solutions for mission-critical environments
• Demonstrated experience conducting DR tests and documenting recovery procedures
• Strong understanding of disaster recovery methodologies, failover/failback procedures, and business continuity planning
• Proficiency with backup technologies: disk-to-disk, disk-to-tape, cloud-based backup, and replication
• Experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, object storage, and deduplication appliances
• Knowledge of database backup and recovery for SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation
• Understanding of networking concepts, data transfer protocols, and WAN optimization
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud backup/DR strategies
