About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PHP, cloud technologies, distributed systems, and large-scale database design. A passion for gaming and experience in cloud-based game development environments will be a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services.
• Architect and implement high-performance APIs and backend systems.
• Work with large-scale relational and NoSQL databases.
• Define API contracts and collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, frontend, DevOps, and QA.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and solution design.
• Monitor system performance using analytics and metrics to improve system quality.
• Debug, profile, and optimize scalable distributed systems.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure and deployment strategies.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in developing scalable backend services.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in PHP (mandatory).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience with Redis for caching and performance optimization.
• Strong experience in database design and working with large datasets in:
• Relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL
• NoSQL databases: Couchbase, DynamoDB
• Experience defining API contracts (RESTful services, microservices architecture).
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

• Proficiency in Java.
• 3+ years of experience developing games using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar).
• Experience working across both client and server-side codebases.
• Strong understanding of system profiling, performance tuning, and debugging distributed systems.
• Experience using metrics and analytics to guide technical decisions and prioritization.
• Passion for gaming and understanding of gaming ecosystems.
