AEM Performance Engineer / AEM Modernization Engineer

Mandatory Skills AEM Developer, AEM 6.5 (Author/Publish, OSGi, Sling, JCR/Oak), JS, CSS

• Own end-to-end AEM performance analysis and tuning across Author/Publish/Dispatcher/CDN layers.
• Diagnose and resolve front-end and back-end performance bottlenecks (render times, slow queries, request throughput, thread contention).
• Improve Core Web Vitals (FCP, LCP, CLS, INP, TBT) through AEM + front-end optimizations, including:
• JS optimization (reducing bundle size, deferring/non-blocking JS, minimizing third-party scripts, code-splitting)
• CSS optimization (critical CSS, reducing unused CSS)
• Lazy loading , image optimization (WebP/AVIF ), and client-side performance best practices
• Optimize AEM Dispatcher/CDN caching strategy (TTL, cache invalidation, cache keys, hit ratio improvements).
• Modernize legacy AEM implementations by:
• Migrating static templates to editable templates
• Improving component efficiency and reducing custom overlays
• Enhancing Clientlibs structure and delivery for performance
• Tune and optimize content structure and repository performance (JCR indexing, Oak query performance, repository growth monitoring).
• Analyze and optimize performance impact from third-party integrations (tag managers, analytics, personalization, marketing pixels, embedded widgets, APIs).
• Drive observability and monitoring improvements (dashboards, alerts, logs, traces, performance SLAs).
• Create and execute performance test plans (load/stress/soak), define baselines, and publish performance reports with clear recommendations.
• Ensure changes are secure, maintainable , and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 56 years in AEM engineering with hands-on performance optimization experience.
• Strong experience with AEM 6.5 (Author/Publish, OSGi, Sling, JCR/Oak).
• Performance expertise across:
• Dispatcher configuration (cache rules, filters, farm files)
• CDN caching and invalidation patterns
• Oak indexing / query optimization (Query Performance Tool, index definitions)
• Strong understanding of AEM component performance (HTL/Sightly, Sling Models, Clientlibs, resource resolution).
• Front-end performance optimization experience:
• JavaScript optimization (bundling, minification, code splitting, reducing third-party impact)
• Modern image formats (WebP/AVIF ), lazy loading, minimizing render-blocking resources
• Strong web performance tooling knowledge
• Hands-on experience with performance tools such as Lighthouse, WebPageTest, Chrome DevTools , and load tools like JMeter / Gatling / Locust ; plus AEM profiling/log analysis.
• Strong communication skills: ability to translate findings into actionable engineering tasks .
