About the Role
We are seeking a technically strong engineer to join our 1D Systems Simulation team , focused on modeling and simulating complex engineering systems using one-dimensional, system-level representations .
This role emphasizes system behavior, energy and flow interactions, and performance trade-offs , rather than detailed 3D geometry. You will develop and apply network-based and flow-path models to understand how subsystems interact and how design choices affect overall system efficiency, robustness, and operability.
The ideal candidate has strong engineering physics fundamentals and hands-on experience with fluid, thermal, and energy systems , with exposure to aerospace and/or naval platforms being a strong advantage.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and refine 1D system-level simulation models representing complex physical systems
- Build flow-path and network-based models to analyze system performance, efficiency, and operating envelopes
- Model bulk and system quantities such as pressure, temperature, mass flow, heat transfer, energy, and power
- Integrate and couple component-level models (e.g., pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, generators ) into complete system architectures
- Perform design trade studies, parametric analyses, and sensitivity studies to support architecture and design decisions
- Support verification and validation of models using test data, analytical calculations, or higher-fidelity simulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate system requirements and architectures into executable simulation models
- Clearly document assumptions, modeling approaches, limitations, and results for technical reviews and downstream use
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Naval Architecture, or related engineering fields
- 25 years of experience in system modeling, simulation, or physics-based analysis
- Strong fundamentals in:
- Fluid mechanics
- Thermodynamics
- Heat transfer
- Experience working with reduced-order, lumped-parameter, or system-level models
- Ability to think holistically at the system level , understanding interactions and coupling effects rather than isolated components
