Role Overview

The Unified Communications Engineer supports the stable operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise voice and collaboration platforms. The role ensures high availability and call quality across Cisco IP Telephony and Microsoft Teams Telephony environments.

You will handle complex voice issues across CUCM, Unity Connection, voice gateways, CUBE/SIP trunking, and Teams Phone System, while managing daytoday administration, incident resolution, and configuration changes in collaboration with crossfunctional teams and service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Cisco IP Telephony Support

• Provide operational support for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) clusters
• Perform Adds, Moves, and Changes (AMC) for:
• IP phones, softphones, and Jabber
• Device profiles, phone button templates, and device pools
• Support and troubleshoot:
• Cisco Unity Connection (voicemail, autoattendants, call handlers)
• Analog Voice Gateways (FXS/FXO, E&M)
• CUBE for SIP trunking and interconnects
• Analyze and resolve call quality issues using:
• RTMT, Packet Capture, CDR/CMR
• Troubleshoot:
• Dial plans, translation patterns, route patterns, CSS/Partitions
• Coordinate with telecom providers for:
• SIP/ISDN/PRI issues, call failures, oneway audio, call drops

Microsoft Teams Telephony

• Support Microsoft Teams Phone System
• Manage and troubleshoot:
• Direct Routing (certified SBCs)
• Calling Plans and Operator Connect
• Configure and support:
• Voice routing policies, calling policies
• Dial plans and number normalization
• Troubleshoot:
• Call setup failures, audio issues, voicemail problems
• Work with:
• Microsoft Admin Center, Teams Admin Center
• PowerShell (basicintermediate)

Tools & Platforms

• Cisco RTMT, Unified CM administration
• Microsoft Teams Admin Center
• Basic PowerShell
• Ticketing tools (ServiceNow or similar)
