Job Summary 

The Data Governance Lead is responsible for establishing and leading the organization’s data governance framework to ensure that enterprise data is accurate, consistent, secure, and properly utilized across all business functions. This role partners closely with data owners, business leaders, and technology teams to define data policies, standards, and processes that enable trusted data for analytics, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making. 

Experience: 8 to 10 Years

Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance Framework & Strategy

• Finalize and operationalize data governance policies (data access, privacy, retention, classification, sharing).
• Define governance operating model for Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and PowerBI (roles, RACI, approval workflows).
• Align governance with enterprise security, compliance, and risk frameworks.
  Design and implement fine‑grained access control using Unity Catalog and RBAC / ABAC models
• Implement row‑level and column‑level security, dynamic views, masking policies.
• Define and manage Data ownership, Metadata standards & tagging, Sensitivity classification (PII, PHI, confidential data)
• Configure and monitor Audit logs & access logs and Policy violations & exceptions

Access Control Management

• Define RBAC, create user groups and provide access to users in tools like Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, Keyvault, DBT etc.

Data Quality & Compliance 

• Establish metrics and processes to monitor and improve data quality, completeness, and consistency. 
• Partner with IT and business teams to ensure adherence to data governance principles and standards. 
• Support compliance with data privacy and protection regulations

Collaboration & Communication 

• Serve as the primary liaison between business units, data owners, and technology teams. 
• Lead data governance councils or committees to drive enterprise-wide alignment. 
• Promote data literacy and a data-driven culture across the organization through education and advocacy. 

Tools & Technology 

• Work with IT and data engineering teams to evaluate and implement data governance tools and platforms. 
• Support integration of governance policies into data management and analytics systems (e.g., Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, Keyvault, DBT etc.) 

Minimum Required Qualifications 

• 8+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or enterprise data strategy roles. 
• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks
• Understanding of regulatory requirements around data privacy, protection, and security.
