Senior Backend Developer – MERN Stack

Sr. Backend Developer (MERN Stack) 6 - 8 Years

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer with 6 - 8 Years of hands-on experience in the MERN stack to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate should have a strong product engineering mindset, proven experience working in a product-based company, and a track record of building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications used by a large user base.

The candidate will play a key role in designing backend architecture, developing robust APIs, optimizing system performance, and contributing to technical decisions that drive product growth and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Express.js.
• Build secure, reusable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Design and optimize MongoDB databases, collections, indexes, and aggregation pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, QA teams, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality product features.
• Architect solutions that can handle high traffic, large datasets, and growing business requirements.
• Implement authentication, authorization, data security, and performance optimization strategies.
• Participate in system design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement long-term solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers when required.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, monitoring, logging, and deployment automation.

Required Technical Skills Backend Development

• Strong expertise in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
• 5+ Years of experience with:
• Node.js
• Express.js
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event loop, streams, and backend design patterns.

Database

• Advanced knowledge of:
• MongoDB
• Experience with schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines, query optimization, and database performance tuning.

API & System Design

• Strong experience building RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of API security, rate limiting, caching, and scalability principles.

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience with cloud platforms such as:
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Hands-on experience with:
• Docker
• CI/CD pipelines
• Deployment automation

Performance & Scalability

• Experience implementing caching solutions using:
• Redis
• Strong understanding of application monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.

Mandatory Requirements

6+ years of backend development experience.

Strong hands-on experience with MERN stack technologies.

Must have worked in a Product-Based Company.

Experience building and maintaining customer-facing products at scale.

Strong understanding of scalable architecture, performance optimization, and software engineering best practices.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to take ownership of features from design to production deployment.
