Job Description
Job Purpose
- The Candidate is responsible for integration and validation of high horsepower engine power assemblies for locomotive, marine, and large industrial platforms for new and MRO engines.
- The role ensures that the engine power assembly (block, rotating assembly, valvetrain, lubrication, cooling, and auxiliaries) is robustly integrated into the customer system, meeting performance, durability, emissions, packaging, and serviceability requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Own application and system integration of HHP engine power assemblies across platforms
- Ensure robust mechanical integration of block, cranktrain, cylinder head, lubrication, and cooling systems
- Translate customer duty cycles and operating conditions into application requirements
- Support NPD phases from concept, architecture definition, design freeze, to production launch
- Define and manage power assembly interfaces with drivetrain, mounting, cooling, and auxiliaries
- Deep Understand on MRO and serviceable life of the parts and assemblies
- Drive performance, durability, and reliability validation for applied engines
- Lead or support root cause analysis of power assembly and field issues
- Ensure compliance with emissions, durability, and safety requirements (locomotive/marine standards)
- Collaborate with design, validation, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers
- Drive DFMEA, risk mitigation, and early issue identification
- Capture and deploy lessons learned into new designs and variants
- Contribute to cost, weight, and serviceability optimization initiatives
- Mentor junior engineers and strengthen application engineering capability
Skills required
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals in engine design and integration
- Indepth knowledge of HHP engine power assembly components (block, crankshaft, bearings, pistons, liners, cylinder head, valvetrain)
- Application and integration experience for locomotive, marine, or large industrial engines
- Understanding of engine duty cycles, load spectra, and operating environments
- Expertise in lubrication, cooling, thermal management, and durability
- Knowledge of NVH and failure modes
- Experience in engine validation, endurance testing, and test data interpretation
- Handson exposure to root cause analysis and field issue resolution
- Familiarity with DFMEA, risk assessments, and change management
- Working knowledge of CAD ((NX/CATIA/Creo) & PLM tools (Teamcenter/Windchill)

Qualification
B.E./B. Tech or M.E./M. Tech Mechanical Engineering
Experience
10 15 years
Preference
- Experience with global HHP engine OEMs or Tier1 suppliers
- Exposure to locomotive, marine propulsion, or large industrial engines
- Experience with emissions transition programs (Tier 4 / IMO)
- Already employed in Indian Railways would be added advantage
