Role Overview

The Senior Platform Engineer II is a highly experienced technical leader who leads projects that span multiple

major engineering domains. This role is responsible for solving complex, high-risk, company-wide problems

while defining standards and architectural patterns that influence the entire engineering organization.

Scope & Impact

Multi-Domain Influence: Leads projects that cross multiple major engineering domains (e.g., Infrastructure,

Security, Data), defining standards and solving complex, high-risk, company-wide problems. Acts as a bridge

between different technical organizations, ensuring cohesive solutions that serve the broader company goals.

Core Responsibilities

Drive the evolution of core infrastructure architecture for large-scale scalability and cost efficiency

Lead cross-domain projects such as major cloud migrations, centralized governance initiatives, or

company-wide security improvements

Act as an internal consultant for other senior technical leaders, providing expert guidance on complex

technical challenges

Design and implement solutions that require coordination across multiple teams and systems

Establish technical standards and best practices that span multiple domains

Mentor Senior Platform Engineers and guide their technical decision-making

Conduct architectural reviews for high-impact projects across the organization

Requirements for Progression

Strategic Impact:

Proven history of leading high-risk, high-reward initiatives with massive positive business impact

(e.g., reducing infrastructure costs by 40%, enabling 10x scale, or improving system reliability from

99.9% to 99.99%)

Trusted advisor to management on technical priorities, with demonstrated ability to influence

roadmap decisions

Mastery of multiple core platform systems (e.g., expert in both Kubernetes orchestration and cloud

networking)

Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders

Track record of successfully delivering multi-quarter initiatives on time and within budget

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering roles

4+ years of experience leading complex technical projects involving multiple teams

Deep expertise in at least two major domains (e.g., Infrastructure + Security, or Data + DevOps)

Proven track record of delivering high-impact projects that solved critical business challenges

Experience with large-scale cloud migrations or infrastructure transformations

Certification Requirements (Minimum)

AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional

Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Technical Skills

Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Expert-level Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting

Strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance frameworks

Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices

Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability

Experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices

Strong programming skills in multiple languages
