Job Description
The Team:
Join JLRs Vehicle Platform (VP) team at TBSI, supporting development of OnBoard Monitoring (OBM) models and control logic used for emissions, diagnostics and propulsion system monitoring across multiple vehicle architectures and powertrain variants. The team delivers modelbased software bundles and OBM integration models that underpin regulatory compliance and robust invehicle diagnostics.
The Role:
This role focuses on modelbased development, integration and maintenance of OBM software, including emissions monitoring, fault detection, diagnostics and propulsionsystemrelated monitoring logic. You will manage change requests, update bundles, build MIL test harnesses and support bundle integration into the full OBM model. Close collaboration with JLR international teams and external suppliers is fundamental.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and organise JIRA Change Requests for OBM updates, including CR analysis, task creation and tracking.
- Perform handson modelbased development for JLRowned OBM functionality.
- Provide technical support to team members delivering software and controls development tasks.
- Integrate and maintain software content in GitLab, including transitioning supplier developed content into to full JLR ownership.
- Continuously improve bundle quality and consistency across multiple variants, including cleanup, harmonisation and variant handling.
- Build MIL test harnesses to support calibration, diagnostics evaluation and monitoring feature validation.
- Develop and maintain the toplevel OBM integration model, spanning emissions, diagnostics and monitoring domains.
- Collaborate closely with JLR teams and other external partners to resolve modelling issues, clarify implementation detail and align development practices.
- Support adherence to ASPICE and QMS processes, ensuring traceability, version control, review discipline and highquality work products.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink and modelbased development for control or monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of onboard diagnostics or monitoring concepts (e.g., fault detection, emissions monitoring, thresholds, diagnostic events).
- Automotive experience, especially in emissions monitoring, OBD/diagnostics or propulsion control.
- Experience with Git/GitLab or similar versioncontrol practices for modelbased workflows.
- Familiarity with JIRA or equivalent tools for change request management.
- Ability to build MIL harnesses and perform basic model verification activities.
- Strong organisational and problemsolving skills; able to work across multiple bundles and variants.
- Good communication skills for working with suppliers and internal engineering teams.
Desirable:
- Understanding of ASPICE processes, QMS-based development and structured engineering workflows.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and functional safety principles (ISO 21434 and ISO 26262).
- Experience with large model architectures and integration activities.
- Understanding of propulsion systems (ICE, hybrid, BEV) training can be provided for strong candidates.
- Familiarity with calibration workflows, test environments or powertrain tools
