Nagios Platform Administration - L3

MustHave Technical Skills

Strong expertise in Nagios Core and/or Nagios XI

Linux administration (RHEL / CentOS / Rocky)

SNMP, NRPE, NSClient++

Plugin development and customization

Monitoring performance tuning & optimization

ITSM integration (preferably ServiceNow)

Strong troubleshooting & analytical skills

Nagios Platform Administration (L3 Ownership)

• Own endtoend Nagios Core / Nagios XI platform administration
• Design, deploy, and maintain highavailability Nagios architectures
• Perform upgrades, patching, and version migrations
• Ensure platform availability, scalability, and security
• Perform capacity planning and performance tuning

Monitoring Design & Implementation

• Design and implement monitoring for:
• Network devices (routers, switches, firewalls SNMP / Flow / WMI)
• Servers (Windows / Linux)
• Databases (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL via custom sensors/scripts)
• Applications & services
• Virtualization (VMware / HyperV)
• Cloud services (AWS / Azure where applicable)
• Configure and tune:
• Sensors
• Thresholds
• Dependencies
• Notification triggers
• Reduce alert noise through optimization and alert correlation

Customization:

• Develop custom plugins and checks
• Define advanced alerting logic, thresholds, and dependencies
• Reduce alert noise through event correlation and tuning
• Dashboard and Reports

Advanced Troubleshooting & RCA

• Act as L3 escalation for:
• connectivity issues
• failures and data gaps
• Performance degradation
• False positives and alert storms
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions
• Support major incidents and postincident reviews
• Automation & Scripting
• Knowledge and Develop automation using: Shell / Bash / Python / Perl
• Leverage Nagios APIs where applicable

Integrations & Reporting

• Integrate Nagios with:
• ServiceNow / ITSM tools for ticket creation
• Email, SMS, webhookbased notifications
• Design and maintain:
• Dashboards
• SLA & availability reports
• Provide monitoring insights for capacity and performance reviews
• Other monitoring or AIOps platforms (where required)
