Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Problem Manager with strong experience in Data Engineering, Release Management, and Root Cause Analysis. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving recurring issues within data systems, while ensuring smooth and controlled release processes through the management of a release calendar. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Problem Management

• Lead problem investigation efforts for high-impact incidents within data engineering pipelines and platforms.
• Perform thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence of issues.
• Maintain a problem register, track resolutions, and document lessons learned.
• Work closely with incident management teams to transition from firefighting to long-term preventive solutions.

Data Engineering Support

• Collaborate with data engineering teams to understand system architecture, ETL processes, and data flows.
• Assist in identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and recurring data-related issues.
• Support performance optimization and stability improvements across data pipelines.

Release Management

• Own and maintain the release calendar for data platform updates, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
• Coordinate cross-team release activities, including scheduling, approvals, and communication.
• Oversee release readiness reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and minimal disruption to operations.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and enforce problem management policies, standards, and best practices.
• Facilitate post-release reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
• Track and report KPIs for problem resolution, release success rates, and platform stability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Problem Manager or in a similar IT operations role.
• Hands-on knowledge of data engineering concepts, ETL tools, and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong understanding of Release Management processes, including maintaining release calendars.
• Expertise in Root Cause Analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagram, Pareto analysis).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and distributed teams.

Preferred Skills

• ITIL Problem Management certification.
• Experience with automation tools for data pipeline monitoring and releases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data platforms.
• Experience in agile environments.

• Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) for problems.
• Reduction in recurring incidents.
• Accuracy and timeliness of release calendar updates.
