Job Description
Designation : Solar electrical Design Engineer.
Qualification : BE Electrical Engineering
Grade : Design Manager
Experience : in years 3-5 years of relevant experience
Responsibilities:
Design and engineer on-grid/off-grid solar rooftop systems with an emphasis on
inverter topology, control algorithms, and system efficiency.
Specify and select key electrical components: inverters, junction boxes, cables, fuses,
earthing systems, and lightning protection.
Perform inverter design validation and verification through simulations and hardware
testing.
Prepare and verify single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable schedules, and layout drawings
using AutoCAD, PVsyst, or SketchUp.
Ensure proper AC/DC system integration including inverter configuration, ACDB/DCDB
selection, and grid interconnection setup.
Analyse site survey data such as roof orientation, tilt, shadow analysis, and irradiance
for system optimization.
Perform energy yield estimation and efficiency calculations using simulation tools like
PVsyst.
Coordinate with electrical project engineers and vendors to ensure system feasibility
and compliance.
Prepare detailed Bills of Materials, technical datasheets, and cost estimates.
Ensure designs meet standards like MNRE, IEC, IS, BIS, DISCOM, and local codes.
Incorporate net-metering policies and support documentation for
DISCOM/government approvals.
Design battery storage systems and hybrid systems (solar + grid + DG) for off-grid
applications.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of solar inverter technologies (string, central, micro, hybrid), MPPT
algorithms, and firmware configuration.
Experience in inverter parameter setting, grid synchronization, and anti-islanding
protection.
Understanding of power electronics, SLDs, grounding, and protection systems.
Proficiency with PV system design tools: PVsyst, AutoCAD, SketchUp.
Hands-on experience with rooftop PV installation and system commissioning.
Familiarity with electrical components: ACDB/DCDB, MC4 connectors, surge protection.
Knowledge of BIS/IEC standards, MNRE guidelines, and DISCOM procedures.
Ability to troubleshoot inverter and electrical system issues.
Awareness of solar economics: ROI, payback period, subsidy eligibility.
