About the role: The Data Platform Consultant (Microsoft Fabric & Databricks) will design, implement, and optimise modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks as the primary analytics and data engineering platforms. This role focuses on building scalable, governed Lakehouse-first architectures that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases, while integrating operational data and enabling near-real-time insight where required.

Responsibilities:

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse architecture, data pipelines, notebooks, semantic models, and Power BI integration.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks including Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, and performance optimisation.
• Experience designing bronze, silver, and gold data architectures.
• Experience with ingestion and orchestration using Fabric Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks Workflows.
• Familiarity with Azure Synapse Link for near-real-time analytics scenarios.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Good understanding of data governance, security, and metadata-driven architectures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with client stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Design and deliver Fabric- and Databricks-led data platforms.
• Build scalable Lakehouse architectures supporting BI and advanced analytics.
• Develop and optimise data pipelines and transformations.
• Integrate operational systems into analytics platforms.
• Apply best practices for performance, cost management, governance, and security.
• Support client enablement and knowledge sharing.
• Stay current with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure data services.
