Data Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Spatial Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain geospatial data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in spatial data processing, validation techniques, and quality control routines, along with expertise in GIS tools and spatial databases. A curious mindset and strong problem-solving ability are essential to identify data issues and drive root cause analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain geospatial ETL workflows using tools such as FME
• Perform spatial data validation and implement robust QC (Quality Control) routines
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve data inconsistencies and errors
• Process, transform, and manage large-scale spatial datasets
• Work with GIS platforms such as QGIS and ArcGIS for data visualization, editing, and analysis
• Write and optimize SQL queries for spatial data handling in PostgreSQL/PostGIS
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
• Document workflows, validation rules, and data standards

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of spatial data concepts and geospatial data structures
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools (preferably FME)
• Proficiency in GIS software: QGIS and/or ArcGIS
• Strong SQL skills with experience in PostgreSQL/PostGIS
• Experience in data validation techniques and QC processes
• Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on data issues
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
