The Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to help build our operations from the ground up, the right way. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in maintaining mission-critical ETL pipelines, robust SQL skills, and a passion for automation. You will report directly to and support our ETL/Data Lead.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and Manage Data Pipelines: Build and manage data ingestion and ETL pipelines, ensuring high availability and data integrity.

• Troubleshoot and Optimize: Diagnose and optimize SQL queries and ETL jobs for performance across large, complex datasets.

• Cloud Operations: Maintain cloud environments (OCI, GCP, AWS, Azure) and resolve issues according to established procedures.

• Database Administration: Perform core tasks including backups, restores, mirroring, and table structure optimization.

• Data Processing: Transform and process data from diverse formats such as XML, CSV, and JSON.

• Automation: Use generative AI tools and automation frameworks to improve operational efficiency.

• Incident Response: Act as the first line of support for operational incidents, coordinating with Engineering and Product for rapid resolution.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 24 years of relevant data engineering or operational experience.

• SQL Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with database systems like Vertica, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or similar.

• Scripting: Proficiency in Shell and/or Python for automation and operational tooling.

• Cloud & Tools: Experience with cloud platforms (OCI, GCP, AWS, Azure) and version control (Git).

• ETL Knowledge: Demonstrated experience building and tuning complex ETL processes in high-volume production environments.

• Communication: Excellent skills for documenting findings and collaborating across cross-functional teams.

• Mindset: A "can-do" attitude with an ownership and entrepreneurial mindset.
