We are currently working with a leading US-based Banking customer on an AI-led Legacy Application Modernization initiative focused on transforming legacy payment systems into modern, scalable, cloud-ready architectures using Agentic AI frameworks.

Project Overview

The project involves building an Agentic AI-powered Legacy Code Conversion Platform for a US-based Banking client.

The platform will demonstrate intelligent transformation of legacy banking/payment applications built in:

• COBOL 85
• Structured COBOL
• TAL (Transaction Application Language)

into modern Java-based applications.

The solution is expected to demonstrate end-to-end AI-led modernization capabilities including:

1. Uploading legacy source code files
2. Reverse engineering legacy application logic
3. Generating functional and technical documentation
4. Converting legacy code into Java
5. Producing forward engineering documentation
6. Performing logic comparison and validation between old and new systems7. Suggesting optimization opportunities for performance and efficiency gains The project will leverage:

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Agentic AI workflows for legacy code modernization
• Build AI-powered reverse engineering frameworks for COBOL/TAL applications
• Develop automated code conversion pipelines from legacy languages to Java
• Create AI-driven documentation generation engines
• Build logic comparison and validation mechanisms between source and converted systems
• Integrate LLMs, AI agents, orchestration engines, and workflow automation frameworks
• Develop demo-ready enterprise-grade modernization use cases
• Collaborate with banking domain stakeholders and architecture teams
• Optimize AI-generated outputs for accuracy, scalability, and maintainability
• Work closely with CTO, AI Architects, and global engineering teams

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Java development
• Good understanding of Legacy Systems Modernization
• Exposure to COBOL / Structured COBOL / TAL systems
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI and LLM frameworks
• Experience in AI Agent / Agentic AI architectures
• Python programming expertise
• Experience with LangChain / LangGraph / CrewAI / AutoGen / Semantic Kernel or similar frameworks
• Understanding of reverse engineering and code analysis concepts
• Experience with API integrations and workflow orchestration
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and RAG frameworks
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise development practices

Minimum Selection Criteria

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science / Engineering / AI / Related Field
• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in AI / Generative AI projects
• Strong hands-on Java and Python experience
• Exposure to legacy modernization initiatives
• Ability to build working AI prototypes and demos independently
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Immediate availability or joining within 15 days preferred
