Job Description:

Position Summary:
The Technology Principal works with the AV partnership team to lead decision-making on the technological interests of the firm and to advise on deals. They are responsible for ensuring convergence of the team’s technological vision,
designing and implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company’s business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:
● Assisting in data collection, analysis, investment planning and developing value models and business cases
● Participating in assessments of existing and potential initiatives
● Performing and documenting research as requested by Airbus Ventures partnership
● Participating in Global and Regional Deal Reviews, supporting the Investment Committee on invitation
● Fully engaging in deal sourcing, diligence and deep dives - globally
● Building and continuously refreshing an analytical framework library
● Driving content for and implementing internal and external tech events
● Providing tech reviews on specific deals on request to the Investment Committee
● Writing and contributing to investor briefings on tech trends
● Writing, soliciting and editing Airbus Ventures technology related publications
● Aligning internal and external technological resources to meet the firm’s short and long-term needs
● Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent , preferably with active links to the research community

Experience:

Minimum of ten years’ experience in a technological role

Licensure/Certifications:

Relevant technical certifications are desirable

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
● Excellent verbal and written communication

Travel Required:
● Frequent short-term travel based on business needs

● Authorized to Work in the US

● Comprehensive technological skillset and a demonstrated facility with complex, fast-advancing technologies
● Exceptional facilitation and team integration skills, leading a collective decision-making process

The Technology Principal has exceptional exposure to Airbus Ventures’ many stakeholders and contributors: our founders and entrepreneurs, fund investors, and leading academic and research institutions. This is a job that requires both high sensory skills alert to technology trends and convergences, and an ability to recognize new system patterns and convert agents of the system to activate and speed their value to the portfolio at large. It requires constant informed curiosity, and bias for translation to investment action with high probability of exceptional returns and broad system impacts. The Airbus Ventures team is itself highly technologically qualified and proficient, with engineers, researchers and
entrepreneurs adept in fields across the system of our investment thesis; the ongoing challenge for the Technology Principal is to engage these skills and capabilities in an ever-evolving context of technological opportunity and relevance,
for both outstanding portfolio performance and system and planetary impact strongly aligned to the team’s values emphasizing leadership by collective intelligence, dynamic portfolio system building, and collaborative approaches to
achieving planet-wide benefits for Earth and beyond.

Physical Requirements:
Readiness for frequent travel including on-site to facilities and laboratories in various stages of development with concomitant safety requirements
