Position Summary...
We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Data Foundation team. As a technical leader, you will drive the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and high-performance data solutions that power Walmart’s data-driven initiatives. You will set technical direction, mentor engineers, and champion best practices across the team. - Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend services and data pipelines using Java, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Architect and implement complex data solutions, setting technical standards and guiding the team through critical decisions.
- Drive adoption and integration of AI tools and frameworks to accelerate software development, automate testing, and improve code quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, influencing product direction and delivering scalable data solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, lead architecture discussions, and establish best practices for software engineering and data infrastructure.
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies as required by evolving project needs.
- Expert-level programming skills in Java, with extensive experience in backend or data engineering roles.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale, high-performance systems.
- Experience architecting solutions and leading technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and introduce new tools, frameworks, and platforms.
- Strong experience using AI-powered tools for development and testing (e.g., code generation, automated testing, static analysis).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Deep working knowledge of Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment.
- Experience with ArgoCD for continuous delivery and GitOps workflows.
- Advanced experience with Postgres, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
