Job Description

We are looking for a senior full-stack software engineer who has specialized mindset and experience in building/shaping out an API ecosystem to support the externalization of payments and financial capabilities via API. The ecosystem at a high-level encompasses.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank, Payments team, you will be responsible for building and shaping an API ecosystem to support the externalization of payments and financial capabilities via API.

The ecosystem at a high-level encompasses.

  1. A client-facing portal that serves the various personas (prospects, clients, 3rd party providers, aggregators, and partners) to self-explore/experiment our API capabilities at start, and subsequently leading up to all the self-service support for collaboration, onboarding and integration
  2. An API Management Platform that manages and orchestrates ingress/egress proxy, identity/credential, authentication, authorization, cryptographic support, webhooks/notifications, metrics/analytics, and other API de-facto management capabilities
  3. A suite of other applications that supports assisted API client onboarding/implementation, product configuration, billing, analytics, and client services

Besides the competency in the required technical skills, the API specialist should maintain awareness to keep up with industrial/market trends as well as the innovative mindset to help business partners shaping up API strategies and initiatives with the decent understanding of the current evolving API ecosystem.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Quickly develop proof-of-concept solutions to prove feasibility of technological solutions.
  • Proactively communicate with management and business stakeholders.
  • Lead pilot projects to test new technologies and methodologies, evaluating their potential impact on the firm.

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 6+ years of applied experience.
  • Seasoned experience and practical skills in API Security like OAuth 2.0, JWT, JWS, JWE, OPA, and IDP like ForgeRock, Okta or similar OIDC/SAML providers
  • Experience with API Management platform e.g., Kong, Apigee, MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, WSO2
  • Strong hands-on REST API best practice, design, and development experience
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with architects, technical/non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong architecture background/principles to recommend/advocate/influence over-arching technical/application architecture in the API ecosystem
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Full stack software engineer with excellent knowledge of Core Java, J2EE, Core Spring Framework, including sub-projects like Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
  • Excellent programming and problem-solving skills with 100% hands-on development, support, bug fixes, and user management skills.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, DynamoDB, MongoDB.
  • Experience implementing code quality tools like SONAR, Checkstyle, PMD, etc.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience with open banking frameworks (OBIE, Berlin Group, FDX) and payments or account information flows.
  • Experience with perimeter security to secure API endpoints and proxy
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager or similar content management tools
  • Practical cloud-native experience; AWS experience is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS KMS, AWS ECS, AWS EKS, AWS S3, SQS, Event Bridge, PostgreSQL is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning tools like Terraform and Cloud Formation is an advantage.
