Job Description

The Mechanical Development Engineer (MDE) – Mechanical Integration (Housings & Castings) is responsible for the design, development, integration, and release of housings, castings, and related mechanical integration components used within electric drive module and generator assemblies. The MDE works collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver robust engineering solutions that meet performance, durability, cost, quality, and timing requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and release housing, casting, and structural mechanical components.
  • Ensure effective mechanical integration across assemblies, including interfaces and tolerance management.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to structural integrity, vibration, fatigue, and thermal effects.
  • Create and maintain DFMEAs for assigned components and sub-systems.
  • Support CAE activities, validation testing, and prototype build events.
  • Developing engineering specifications for the product.
  • Creating prototype build/control plans, reviewing and approving prototype material for builds, and signing off mechanical hardware prototypes for usage in internal and external testing.
  • Create Advanced Design Verification Plan and Report (ADVP&R) to validate the component performance, and issue laboratory work orders to direct technicians in conducting component testing.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure casting, machining, and assembly feasibility.
  • Interface with suppliers, Purchasing, and Supplier Development Engineers on technical topics.
  • Support customer engineering discussions, reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in engineering change management, VA/VE, and NBO concept development.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience in housing and casting design.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and component integration.
  • Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, root cause analysis and Teamcenter.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Salary Range:

$115,200 - $162,000
