Caterpillar’s Earth Moving division is hiring for Design Engineer in Mossville, IL.

Role Summary:
Joining our Operator Systems Engineering division as part of the Operator Visibility Team means you will have a direct impact on ensuring machine operators remain safe, comfortable, and productive. The successful candidate will have responsibility to design, develop and release operator visibility related components and systems such as glass, windows, mirrors, window wiping systems, and window washer systems. They will participate in requirements gathering, functional specification creation, DFMEA & PFMEA exercises, validation planning, and troubleshooting activities.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties)

Design, develop, build, and implement new components, products, or technologies used in machine operator visibility systems.

  • Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detailed design documents, 3D models and 2D prints.
  • Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototype visibility components and systems.
  • Support field quality issue investigations through inspection of failed parts and providing design control support for quality improvement projects.
  • Overseeing the efforts of drafting specialists.
  • Effectively communicate with design counterparts, customers/clients, suppliers, and manufacturers of diverse technical backgrounds located in global locations.
  • Understand and apply applicable international standards and regulations such as glass certification and machine visibility requirements.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in an accredited Mechanical Engineering curriculum.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
  • Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience designing, testing, or building operator visibility related components and systems such as glass, windows, mirrors, window wiping systems, and window washer systems
  • Knowledge of industry visibility standards, such as ISO 5006
  • Knowledge of glass and mirror related regulations, such as ANSI Z26.1, ECE 43 & 46, or AS2080

Additional Details

  • Work location: Mossville, IL
  • Domestic relocation assistance IS available for this role

  • Travel: Upto 10% domestic and international
  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)

 

 

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
