Job Purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

The primary responsibility of the Application CAE Analyst position is to execute and help develop best practices for analysis of turbocharger components and systems, specifically related to thermal mechanical fatigue and creep of components, system-level modal analysis, and stage performance prediction through CFD and engine system analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or leads all structural, thermal, modal, rigid body dynamics, CFD, and engine level analyses of turbocharger components to confirm suitability for application using ANSYS and other software. 
  • Helps improve reliability and performance of turbo systems and components.  
  • Leads problem solving efforts on issues related to structural and aerodynamic designs. 
  • Authors and archives written reports of all analysis results, including recommendations.  
  • Possesses proficiency with, or has the ability to learn, the basics of design tools such as Creo for purposes of CAD preparation.  
  • Engages in ongoing training to upgrade capabilities in engineering and interpersonal areas by formal training and study.  
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.  
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.  
  • Adheres to and helps enforce safe work procedures and practices.      
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. 

What we are looking for

  • BSME required. Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a plus. 
  • Must have at least three years of experience as a simulation analyst running a variety of 
  • structural, fluid, and thermal analyses.  
  • At least three years of experience with ANSYS software is highly beneficial.  
  • Experience performing fatigue / lifetime calculations of high-speed rotating machinery is preferred. 
  • Thermal fatigue, conjugate heat transfer, and creep analysis experience (CFD and FEA) is a plus. 
  • Experience developing integrated and automated tools and techniques such as scripting is  
  • highly beneficial.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills are required. 
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are essential. 
  • Experience in developing and executing design optimization through DOEs desirable. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products — Outlook, Word, Excel, & Power Point.

Salary Range:

$77,600 - $109,125
