Hybrid Working 

Structured hybrid role:  

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:

The successful candidate will work within the File Gateway Engineering & Development team to Develop, Unit test, and deploy the Sterling artifacts like Maps and business processes. They will also be expected to know the Sterling Env well so any environment-related issues can be managed within Development timescales. They will report to the File Gateway E&D manager and will be working independently on various business releases and technology remediation delivery work. They will be expected to work alongside the Architecture/Design and Testing teams, ensuring maximum collaboration. They will also be heavily focused on ensuring Engineering capabilities and helping with the adoption of DevOps methodology across the wider estate.

What will you be doing?

•  Working as an individual contributor for development across the Sterling product suite. 

•  Manage the deployment process as part of a standard project deployment work, following environment standards and best practices.  

•  Work closely with the peers within / outside the team and keep stakeholders updated on progress against milestones – support development and testing leads to ensure collaboration across the entire project is seamless.

•  Enhance and improve application deployment capability via DevOps, CI/CD, and Automation

•  Highlight risk and issues via effective control and Standard Barclays processes.

•  Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and Barclays policies and standards

What we’re looking for:

•  Strong development/deployment background, ideally within the financial sector. 

Skills that will help you in the role:

•  Experience with the IBM Sterling File Gateway suite would be highly beneficial to a candidate. This includes Sterling Integrator, Sterling File Gateway, Sterling Secure Proxy, Perimeter Servers, and Sterling Control Centre.

•  Strong knowledge of SQL. Working knowledge of Shell scripting & Java. 

•  Strong knowledge of Unix OS (preferably Linux).

•  Knowledge of file transfer Protocols, (FTPs/SFTP/Connect: Direct) and basics of certificate management (TLS/SSL/OCSP).

•  Knowledge of the Infrastructure landscape will be beneficial. 

•  Ensure appropriate development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) are adhered to and have strong communication skills with other project stakeholders.

•  Experience in DevOps implementation and ability to continually identify automation and integration opportunities to continuous improvement in application development processes. 

• Hands-on experience in tools like Git, Jenkins, Team City, Agile Central, JIRA, and Confluence will be an added advantage.

•  ITIL certification and working knowledge of the same will be an added advantage.

•  Preferred educational qualification is BE/B.Tech
