Job Summary:


The ONTAP Platform Team at NetApp helps build our foundational data solutions across on-prem and cloud. This role is focused on the software aspect of NetApp’s ONTAP storage operating system.

As a Product Manager on the ONTAP Platform Team, you will be managing a portfolio of ONTAP features and responsible for their entire lifecycle management. This role requires a broad understanding of the enterprise storage industry landscape as well as the technology ecosystem.

Essential Functions:


  • Develop product roadmaps, feature definition, and requirements for foundational software data storage solutions
  • Work with product managers from across the company to create MRDs and PRDs
  • Synthesize input from various stakeholders, such as field, customers, various product managers across the company, global services, engineering and senior management into a cohesive product strategy
  • Use business acumen and knowledge of the enterprise storage market to make difficult feature and business trade-offs
  • Partner with engineering to drive these features through various phases of the release execution
  • Work with the UX team in defining requirements for user interface design
  • Work with a cross functional group within the company that includes other BU Product Managers, Technical Marketing, Engineering, and Product Marketing to ensure the successful execution of projects and product/solution rollout
  • Establish, enhance, or distinguish product placement within the competitive arena
  • Track general business indicators and product KPIs
  • Compare with competitive offerings to guide sales as well as drive product requirements
  • Work with Technical and Product Marketing to create field training & customer facing sales collateral


Job Requirements:


  • Familiarity with:
  • The enterprise data storage industry and hybrid cloud solutions from a software perspective
  • NAS and SAN protocols, file systems, and related workloads
  • Networking experience (is a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work both independently and lead cross functional teams
  • Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of ambiguity, set priorities, & obtain buy-in from cross functional groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Product management experience in the technology industry
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Preferably understand NetApp's products and services technologies/concepts


Education and Experience:


  • A minimum of 10 years of product management or related experience is required
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree is required. MBA is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects
