Sr Application Support Engineer

Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments:

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years relevant enterprise operational support experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant Big Data Support/Development experience.
• Demonstrated communication, customer service, and advanced problem-solving skills.
• Big Data Fundamentals (Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark & Sqoop)
• AWS fundamentals (including EMR, RDS, and AMI concepts)
• Configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of Linux web applications.
• Knowledgeable in relational database software and concepts, specifically Oracle, MYSQL, and Postgres
• Experience with supporting Cloud and SaaS applications and SSO is a definite advantage
• Follow best practices in change control to support a highly available application environment.
• Uses problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical problems for external customers.
• Strong application release automation experience or use automation tools such as CA.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and stakeholders, to identify and resolve software development and infrastructure issues.
• Design and implement continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the software development and deployment process.
• Monitor and analyze system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and improve system scalability and reliability.
• Identify and implement best practices for software development and operations, including version control, testing, and deployment strategies.
• Release Automation (formerly CA LISA), Jenkins, Puppet, etc
• Can communicate (verbally and in written format) with internal customers and teams.
• Organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks and projects.
• Provides 24x7 on-call support within a team rotation.
• Occasional weekend or off-hours work required.
• Flexible and easily adaptable to change.

It would be great if you also had . . .

• Ability to install, support, and maintain multi-tiered web proprietary applications.
• Ability to write effective scripts using Shell or Perl to automate procedures and workflow.
• AWS certification is a plus

• The Development Operations Engineer provides monitoring and support operations for customer-facing applications. This position assists in all functions of maintaining a complex multi-tiered application which includes testing, implementation, and execution in a Big Data Environment.
